Using folding doors as a garden feature

I love my folding doors – but I never considered making them a feature of my garden.  To do so, I changed three simple things.

1)      I put an archway of plants around the door – easily trimmed, it makes my door the instant focal point, especially when the flowers around the door are in bloom.  It’s also one of the best things I’ve done, because when the doors are open, and it’s summer, the scent that flows in through the door is just amazing.

2)      We cleared the path and moved the table off to one side.  Before the table was in the centre of the patio table, so people would see that instead of our gorgeous doors.  So we moved the table off to one side, and changed the stairs so they were a bit ‘flatter’ colour wise.  That seemed to do the trick.

3)      The final thing we did?  Treated the folding doors like a feature instead of a functional object.  We keep the glass clean, and polish the fixtures are part of our routine – we open them often and we let the garden into our house, without worrying about anything else.  We’re both very passionate about our garden and love the features we’ve introduced.

Once we did that, we had a huge party in our garden and it was a ball!
